I was told by a couple of friend that rapid fire > pirate ship to start with because; 1) Of the inability to jump while in the pirate ship, which hinders training because; 1a) Most training maps past 4th job require constant moving around a platform heavy map 1b) You can't toggle in and out of pirate ship constantly, there's a skill cooldown. 2) Pirate ship's skill limitation. You can't use a number of beneficial skills while in pirate ship. Freeze, homing, booster, etc. 3) Rapid fire is useful from the get-go and you can combo it your summons and the ever popular Cooling Effect. Pirate ship requires you to invest more time in skills for it to be useful. If anything, get master level pirate ship after rapid fire, and fire torpedo directly after. (That long awaited 6 monster neutral mob skill) And as a matter of fact, I've watched a lot of gunslinger Lv140 training videos on a kMS blog and Pirate ship is rarely, if even, used. EW!! I can't believe you are not getting 1 point in Air Strike at lvl 120 O_o. I think it's really useful even at lvl 1. Also, you should get lvl 1 element mastery, as it adds 1 more second of freeze. Also, lvl 1 octopus mastery increase your octopus duration for 5 seconds. So, I'd do: 120: 1 Air Strike, 1 Element Mastery, 1 Rapid Fire 121: 1 Octopus mastery, 1 Mind control (just for fun ^^), and 1 Rapid Fire 123: 1 Pirate Ship, 1 Quick Fire, 1 Battle Torpedo (just for fun, again. you can't be a true pirate without your own ship >:D) 124+: Go for Rapid Fire max (if you can find the skill book), then 16 in elemental mastery (+2 more seconds of freeze), then max Air Strike (if you can find the skill book), then mind control, and finally, do what you want ^^. This is a true Super Happy Epic Fun Guide xD oh, and btw, you CAN use freeze while on the ship Also, could you tell me the url of that lvl 140 pirate blog? I'd like to see the videos. Edit: Also, I saw in a KMST video, a lvl 151 pirate jumping while on the ship. He couldn't climb up ladders and ropes though. Anyways, if you leave it at lvl 1, it has only 90 seconds of cooldown ^^ Edited by Rigumaro, Jun 9 2008, 07:17 PM.

There's actually a lot of controversy over what the best build is for Captains (lol I almost wrote Craptains, dammit). I could only find one guide on Insoya but he listed a bunch of different builds, something like this: Battleship Build 1 Battleship 30 Canon 9 Battleship 30 Air Strike 20 Advanced Homing 20 Maple Hero 30 Rapid Fire 1 Elemental Amp Rapid Fire Build 30 Rapid Fire 30 Air Strike 20 Maple Hero 20 Advanced Homing 1 Battleship 30 Canon 9 Battleship 1 Elemental Amp Air Strike Build A 30 Air Strike 1 Battleship 30 Canon 9 Battleship 20 Advanced Homing 20 Maple Hero 30 Rapid Fire 1 Elemental Amp Air Strike Build B 30 Air Strike 30 Rapid Fire 20 Maple Hero 20 Advanced Homing 1 Battleship 30 Canon 9 Battleship 1 Elemental Amp I think what I'd like to do though is get 1 Air Strike and 1 Support Octopus early on and then get as much Rapid Fire as possible. Though, if I can't find a level 20 or 30 skill book, I'd add a point into Battleship and then the rest into Canon. It's really hard to make a 4th job skill build because you never know if you'll even be able to get a certain skill or not when you want it. Also, Captains have soooo many great skills.. It's so hard to choose... *-* PS, everyone on Insoya was saying "don't do the rapid fire build, you'll regret it!". But it just looks like a really nice skill to me after seeing SoA so... T_T let's be trailblazers, eh chris? |

I just found out that the translation for Pirate ship was really, really shoddy. The pirate ship does have a cooldown, but the cooldown doesn't take effect unless the Pirate Ship is destroyed. It gets destroyed if you take too much damage. That means if you keep your distance and don't get hit, you can toggle in and out of it while training. New build updated in front in a second. I would also suggest to skip maple hero for now. It's a universal skill, and because Lv20 comes from horntail, it'll be hell to find. Advanced homing is a nice skill. Even if you're not going to use the homing properties, it does a 580% single shot (600% shot if you use it again on a locked on monster) which is very, very powerful. The only skill I don't see worthy of maxing is Mind Control. Your captured monster attacks far too slow, you can kill more in the same time it takes to get one under your control. Mind control can be useful. At max is 100% succes rate I think. You can do mind control on a platform with many enemies and put there an octopus. Then you can move to another one, and when you come back, the first platform they will be weak. Then you can do an Air Strike, and hopefully they are all dead x) |

It's useful, but it's not NEARLY as useful as all the other skills, lol. It's definitely one that you'll save for much later. |
